A citizen was killed, and others sustained varying injuries on Tuesday in widespread attacks by elements of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on villages east of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

“The Rapid Support militias set more than four villages on fire, and stole all our belongings and livestock,” a fleeing villager from the area east of Tawila town told Radio Dabanga.

“RSF militiamen in six vehicles, supported by Janjaweed on camels and horses, about 2pm on Tuesday attacked Hillet Ahmed Yagoub, east of Tawila. Ahmed Adam who worked as a guard at the water pump in the area was killed. Ahmed Yagoub, the sheikh of the village, was beaten into a coma. Abdel Aziz Hassan Mohamed and Abdallah Adam Taher were abducted.”

The witness added that the villages of Janjona A and B, Hillet Kursi, and Haskanita burned to ashes. “All the inhabitants fled towards Tawila town.”

Sarafaya and Birka

In the area east of El Fasher, RSF troops destroyed the remains of the villages of Sarafaya and Birka. The villages had been set on fire in the end of March. The inhabitants had already fled the widespread attacks on their villages.
