POLOKWANE – Pietersburg Road Runners athletes were once again victorious during the Limpopo Club Championships that were held at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Collinda Potgieter, a Pietersburg Road Runners athlete said the championships were fun and athletes enjoyed themselves.
Rufus Photo competed in the 10km Cluster Road Run and finished the race in a time of 32:00.
Several athletes from the club will take part in the very popular Old Mutual Om die Dam 50km marathon, which will take place at Hartebeespoort Dam on Saturday.
Potgieter said the race had a difficulty rating of three, which meant it was not an easy race, especially Saartjie’s Neck around 32km.
“Most of the Pietersburg Road Runners athletes will use the Om die Dam marathon as preparation for the Comrades Marathon,” said Potgieter.
Results for the Limpopo Club Championships:
Phuti Mohale finished the senior 10 000m category in first place in a time of 32:12 and the 5 000m race also in first place in a time of 15:46.
Harry Lamola was second in the 10 000 m in a time of 34:33.
JJ van der Merwe finished the 1 500m race in third place, but his time was unknown. He also competed in the 2 800m race, where he finished third.
Monique de Jager was fourth in the 400 m race and 800 m races, while Andre Kotze crossed the 400 m finish line in first place.
