TORIT, 21 December 2013 [Gurtong] – While their Church leaders have stood in solidarity to urge all the parties involved in the crisis to resort in engaging inclusive dialogue as a means of adopting peaceful development, the Eastern Equatoria State citizens have vowed not to allow such deadly actions to happen in Eastern Equatoria State.
Appealing on their government and opposing leaders to engage in dialogue, both the state citizens alongside their church leaders have worriedly got concerned of future further escalations of the wars to all parts of the country, notably the 10 states of the Republic of South Sudan.
Yesterday in Torit, church representatives met the state governor Louis Lobong Lojore at the state Secretariat for the government to express their deep concerns over the current situation in the country and demanded the government to arrest the militaristic situation and employ dialogue especially to parties involved in the ongoing combats by amicably luring leaders to talk.
Relatively, the church leaders drawn from different churches in the state have invited all citizens to join them for prayers to pray for peace, wisdom to the leaders, souls of those who lost their lives plus those whose family members’ lives have been affected.
The different church representatives have insisted their request to Government to bear its key responsibility to amicably bring the parties involved to a peaceful negotiation table, as consequences of the ongoing crisis in the country could lead to negative impacts if not controlled.
It is reported that over 500 people have died in the fighting.
The Clergymen have wholeheartedly advised the entire South Sudanese to embrace the spirit of coming together now that Christmas festive season is imminent which should be to resolve disputes.
