South Sudan

In South Sudan expatriate women were gang raped at a compound by government soldiers. These atrocities to western women only highlight the evils of rape that South Sudanese women face all the time. Pray that the government and soldiers will not be forces that increase evil in the country, but that they will be warriors of peace and justice and builders of human dignity. Pray for the Father God to wrap His loving arms around these expatriate women and the Sudanese women; may they know He loves them. Pray that the evils done against them will be cleansed from their minds and souls, and that the Father will allow them freedom from their pain (The Bible, 1 Peter 2:10).

In August the Sudanese courts acquitted two Christian pastors after they spent seven months in prison for espionage. Currently, there are at least four other Christians, one missionary from the Czech Republic, and three Sudanese pastors now facing trial for espionage and waging war against the state. Sudan has become more Islamic in the last few years and Christians have faced growing persecution from the government. Pray that these four will receive a quick trial and be acquitted of any wrong. Pray that Christians in Sudan will continue to live boldly even as their government sees them as enemies of the state (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 3:11-12).
