During the time of the S4J team visit to the northern part of South Sudan, this church building was burnt down. It was part of a larger systematic initiative to burn down church buildings and houses in the Nuba Mountains and the northern part of South Sudan. We've first hand experienced these works by people caught up in Islamic extremism.
God is good...all the time. Below is pictures of the church building being rebuilt. The S4J have donated towards the rebuilding of this church building.
These are examples of how the S4J helps the people of Sudan and Sudan.
How do we deliver support in the Sudans?
The S4J (Sudan4Jesus run) is a fundraising initiative birthed from the father heart of God. It started in 2010 with two athletes and has grown to about 140 athletes from more than 40 different running clubs. Although the S4J group of athletes and supporters have participates in quite a number of races throughout the year, the annual Comrades Marathon is the key race through which athletes fundraise in support of people and projects in Sudan and South Sudan.
The S4J is part of the Sudan Support Network (SSNet), who are registered charity in South Africa. What is now known as the SSNet started in 1997 as a network of people with a heart of compassion towards Sudan. In 2007 a non profit organization was registered as SSNet.
We work through strategic partners. Our key strategic partner is International Aid Services (IAS). We also partner throuth the Greater Reach Alliances (GRA) and others. Although as a network the SSNet has been operating for almost two decades, God has lead us to align closely with IAS and GRA at a meeting in East Africa in October 2015. A team from the SSNet / S4J visited IAS and GRA in January 2016 to start making a vision reality. It is expected that the connection with IAS and GRA will strongly impact the SSNet / S4J in 2016 and the coming years.
