Representatives of the former detainees, representatives of faith based groups and representatives of the national figures also signed.

According to a statement from his office, President Kiir will sign the deal on Wednesday 26 August.

Presidential spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny told reporters on Tuesday that the signing the regionally and internationally backed peace agreement to end over 20 months long conflict will be done in the capital, Juba.

The announcement comes a day after an expanded leadership consultation meeting which brought together members of his cabinet, state governors, heads of commissions and other institutions.

The leadership meeting chaired by president Kiir himself with participation of his deputy, James Wani and other leading officials was preceded by a consultative meeting with the Security Council members.
