People continue to arrive at camps for the displaced around El Fasher, capital of North Darfur. They have fled the attacks by government militias on their villages in East Jebel Marra and Tawila locality.

Residents of El Salam and Abu Shouk camps told Dabanga that about 300 families reached the camps during the past two days. Others continue to arrive at Zamzam camp, located south of El Fasher.

“The newly displaced are in a very bad condition. It is also difficult to help them, as food rations for a number of people were cut down to the most basic level, while the rations for others were cancelled in 2014,” an activist explained from the Abu Shouk camp.

The displaced of the camps urged relief organisation to intervene “as soon as possible”.

They called on the Sudanese government to lift the siege on the thousands of people who fled into the nearby mountains and valleys. “They are stuck there, trying to survive on nothing, and cannot leave to find protection in the camps.”
