Zuma assists with South Sudan, Sudan peace talks
The president seels to broker peace between followers of President Salva Kiir & his axed deputy.
Zuma’s mediation efforts begin with a meeting in Dar es Salaam today, with Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete.
The president will go on from Tanzania to Kampala where he will hold talks with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
These mediation efforts follow the recent visit to South Africa by Kiir.
South Africa has played a central role, mostly through former President Thabo Mbeki, in bringing peace between South Sudan and Sudan and building capacity in those countries.
The president has left Minister of Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa, in charge while he’s out of the country.
