The Kiir Mayardit Hospital in Rumbek has suspended services just six days after being inaugurated by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The women’s hospital was forced to shut down owing to a fuel shortage, which prevented the hospital from running generators to provide electricity, according to media reports.

Director General of the Hospital Dr. Paul Ater said that the hospital will be able to resume work as soon as the government provides fuel.

He was quoted as saying that the hospital requires four drums of fuel daily costing 5,600 pounds per day.
